The ACHA Summit

Co-operative housing provides a powerful opportunity to enhance Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, particularly through innovative new builds that reflect best practices.

Thanks to a generous donation, CEHL had the pleasure of supporting Co-op Board Directors Ashleigh Beard (Lakewood), Julie Gilchrist (Solar City), and Dianne Gorman (Tee Pee) to attend the ACHA Summit in Adelaide. They were joined by fellow co-op directors who also serve as CEHL Board Directors, Beth Rundle (Satellite) and Fiona Herman (Endeavour), along with our CEHL team members Liz Thomas, Alyce Holmes, Karen Fixsen, Matthew Torney, and Hayley Clark.

The Australian Co-operative Housing Alliance (ACHA) Summit was an inspiring day of knowledge-sharing, featuring industry leaders like Tim Ross from Canada’s CHF Dr. Sidsel Grimstad from Griffith University, and Melina Morrison from BCCM. Attendees dove into interactive workshops on essential topics: Placemaking in Co-op Housing, Best Practice Governance, and ACHA’s ESG Impact Framework.

To close the event, Liz Thomas presented the ACHA blueprint, a guide supporting ACHA’s goal to secure a dedicated community housing funding stream to expand co-operative housing to 10% of Australia’s social housing stock.
