Since 2021, this initiative has retrofitted ten CEHL homes with the goals of reducing energy costs and emissions, exploring the efficacy of retrofits and improving the comfort and affordability of the properties. The results have been overwhelmingly positive with residents reporting warmer homes, reduced electricity bills and greater overall comfort:
“First electricity bill since solar, amount payable is nil and $46.45 in credit, amazing!”
“Insulation has made a massive difference for liveability. The house is more comfortable and affordable. The last quarterly bill was $150 in credit!”
“The house has been fantastic this summer. Haven’t needed to use the aircon much because the insulation and heavy drapes keep the heat out. The ceiling fan is all we need sometimes.”
Stay tuned for more updates on this successful project.
Lifelong Renting in Co-operative Housing
Lifelong renting is becoming a reality for many Australians, but the nature of our housing market often forces many renters to pack up and move regularly – something that is both hugely disruptive and costly.
