In 2021, 10 houses in Castlemaine were retrofitted with a range of energy efficient initiatives including door draught proofing, underfloor insulation, solar panels and awnings as part of the CEHL & Mount Alexander sustainability Group Retrofit Project.

A 12-month monitoring phase, started in September, is tracking temperature, humidity, solar production and energy consumption alongside resident feedback. Early data shows significant improvements in energy efficiency and comfort.

The pilot project aims to identify the most effective and scalable initiatives for future CEHL properties, marking a key step toward a more sustainable future.
