Co-op Housing Interest

Are you still interested in hearing about
Co-operative Housing opportunities?

Please read the information below before deciding if you would like to remain on our applicant list.

Becoming a member isn’t just applying for a home — it’s joining a community built on participation, responsibility, and affordability.

Members work together to manage the day-to-day operations of their co-op – from welcoming new members to making decisions that shape how the co-op operates.

What it means:

Shared responsibility

Everyone helps run the co-op

Democratic decisions

Members have a voice

Active involvement

From welcoming new people to helping with maintenance or finances

Why it matters

Co-ops thrive when members contribute skills, time, and ideas. It’s housing that works as a partnership.

Ways members get involved:

  • Attend regular meetings
  • Join the co-op board
  • Help with maintenance or working bees
  • Welcome new members
  • Organise events
  • Lead garden or sustainability projects
Staying on the Applicant List

As it’s been over a year since you applied, now’s the perfect time to reconfirm your interest and let us know that co-op housing is still the right fit for you.

It might not be right for you if you:

  • Prefer to live independently without community involvement
  • Are unable to commit time to co-op responsibilities
  • Don’t wish to be involved in decision-making or governance
  • Have since found permanent housing

Step 1 – Confirm your interest

Click the button below and complete a short form to confirm your interest and to stay on the CEHL applicant list.

Step 2 – Wait for availability

Co-op housing provides long-term stability — the average tenancy is 11 years.
Like many community housing providers, this means wait times can be longer.

If you don't confirm your ongoing interest, your application will be deactivated.
