CEHL visits Mildura to promote co-op housing

CEHL’s Managing Director, Liz Thomas, and General Manager of Asset & Housing Services, Richard Thomas, visited Mildura in November.

The visit provided the chance to connect with Mildura co-ops, hear feedback and discuss ideas for co-op expansion, and promote the co-operative rental housing model as part of the solution to regional Australia’s affordable housing crisis. With Mildura co-ops full and CEHL co-ops experiencing low vacancy rates, CEHL will explore opportunities for co-op growth in Mildura and Victoria through upcoming state and federal government housing funding.

Liz and Richard were also featured on ABC Radio’s Mildura-Swan Hill breakfast program with
Debra Pearce.

Liz said, “CEHL is committed to telling the story of co-operative housing in Australia to influence key decision makers to think about co-ops as part of the affordable housing solution. It’s about giving people the dignity of a home, in a community, guided by co-operative principles.”
