CEHL welcomes the Federal Government’s Budget commitment

CEHL welcomes the Federal Government’s Budget commitments to address the shortage of affordable housing – including $6.2 billion of new investment in affordable housing and up to $1.9 billion in additional concessional loans to community housing providers to build new social and affordable housing under the HAFF and the National Housing Accord.

In time, these commitments will provide access to secure and affordable accommodation. A focus on applying the funding to innovative housing solutions, including rental housing co-operatives, will maximise the impact.

Co-operative rental housing ensures secure tenancy and affordable rents. It is a proven successful approach to housing that offers the co-op community security of tenure and social benefits. CEHL looks forward to continued investment from the government to grow the affordable co-operative rental housing opportunity in Australia.
