About Herbert Street
- CEHL developed Herbert Street Dandenong in 2011 in partnership with Dandenong RSL and Doutta Galla.
- Herbert Street Village caters to a diverse community of independent individuals aged 55 and over.
- It’s conveniently located near Dandenong Shopping Centre, the Dandenong market, and public transport.
- The village comprises 92 dwellings, including one and two bedroom units, spread across three main housing blocks. These blocks are connected by an elevated walkway, which can be accessed via stairs and lifts, linking them to the ground level, basement car park, and storage area.
- Residents enjoy a Community Centre nestled in beautifully landscaped gardens.
- Managed by Common Equity Housing, the village operates on a Community Managed Co-operative model, allowing member tenants to have a say in the management of their homes and shared spaces.
- Rental rates are kept affordable, with residents paying 25 percent of their income plus 100 percent of National Rental Assistance.
What makes it special
The community organises various activities for residents to enjoy together, fostering a friendly and vibrant atmosphere.
