UDIA Award Winner for Affordable Development in 2011

Herbert Street Dandenong Village was created for the needs of a culturally diverse, independent living aged 55+ community.

  • Built on the former RSL Bowling Club site situated within walking distance to Dandenong Shopping Centre, the Dandenong market and public transport
  • The development includes 92 dwellings that are a mix of one and two bedrooms
  • There are three main housing blocks that are linked by an elevated walkway accessed via stairs and lifts that connect the dwellings to the ground level and the basement car park and storage area
  • Includes a resident's Community Centre in native landscaped gardens
  • Managed by Common Equity Housing utilising the Community Managed Co-operative model where member tenants have the opportunity to have input into the management of their homes and common areas
  • Rental rates are ‘affordable’ residents pay 25 percent of their income plus 100 percent of National Rental Assistance
